As we set out in May 1983 we introduced ourselves to the world as Tashi Agro Industries Private Limited for marketing of agricultural products. We changed our status to that of a public limited company on 6th August 1992 and also donned the new name of Tai Industries Limited on 29th March 1994. Tai Industries Limited is the Indian flagship company under the Tashi Group.
The name ‘DRUK’ resonate an essence of purity. We launched this brand of fruit products in 1986 and opened up to the world market a huge reservoir of nature, packaged and presented to perfection. Manufactured by our group company ‘Bhutan Fruit Products Private Limited’ each single produce of DRUK has been acquired from the mountain slopes of Bhutan, nurtured by traditional eco-friendly agro management techniques.
The DRUK products that have pervaded international markets include fruits, vegetables, jams, squashes, pickles, honey, fruit slices, corn flakes and processed foods and tropical delights like mango pulp, panna & juices.
The other sector that Tai Industries Limited has forayed into is the marketing of mineral products. Calcium carbide, ferro silicon, charcoal etc are minted / processed by its group companies in Bhutan. The registered office of Tai Industries Limited, at 53A Mirza Ghalib Street, 3rd floor, Kolkata – 700016, is in control of its network of numerous branches, depots and a chain of C&F Agency depots that operate nationally. It is the marketing epicenter of the group. DRUK has carved a niche for its own in the market where its competing brands are ‘KISSAN’ processed fruit products from the stable of Unilever Limited and the ‘SIL’ brand of jams marketed by Marico Industries Limited.
The company has added yet another dimension to itself by promoting JAMIPOL Limited for the production of Desulphurisation compounds, in association with the TATA Group and SKW Metalchemie GMBH, Germany.
Charting Indian consumerism on a steady rise Tai Industries Limited has diversified into large format retailing with its chain of supermarkets ‘C3 -The Marketplace’. The first C3 store was put up at Lee Road in Kolkata in 2004, only to be followed by many more properties that mushroomed across the city that invited immense footfall and announced their success.
